Even if you’d been around the BDSM scene for a while, you may still have all kinds of questions. I’m always learning. Right now, I’m getting a lot of people who are asking: what kind of submissive am I? This is actually a fascinating question to me. I enjoy hearing everyone’s answers. But perhaps you’re not sure about the different types of submissive there are. Let me help you with that.
A Submissive Takes Pleasure In Making Mistress Happy
The easiest definition of a submissive is a person who takes pleasure in making the dominant party in the relationship happy. Yes, we could debate about the ins and outs of this for a long time. But this is going to be our working definition of the term as we explore what kind of submissive people there are out there.
And I say “submissive people” because this applies to male, female, non-binary, agender, and sissy submissives. It doesn’t matter what your gender is, or even if you don’t have one at all. All these labels apply equally to everyone.
Types of submission to a Femdom
There are many different types of subs, and this is just a quick overview of the most popular types. There are probably as many kinds as there are submissives in the world, so let’s just go over some of the most common types!
For instance, the service submissive is probably the most common kind of submissive out there. A service submissive is one who enjoys providing service to their Mistress, as the name suggests. Some types of service submissive include foot slaves and sissy maids.

Another type of submissive is the pet. This can involve literal pet play, but does not have to. It can merely be a term of endearment toward the sub.I often do this.
A slave is a subset of submissive who completely surrenders control to their owner. They are sexually available at all times for the owner’s pleasure. The hallmark of a slave is that they never say no. There are ways to do this in Distance Domination but it requires commitment on the part of the slave.
A painslut is one who enjoys intense pain from a strict Mistress. This may come in the form of physical pain or of mental pain–i.e., humiliation.
Other Types Of Sub
If you’re still curious about what kind of submissive you might be and don’t feel that you relate to any of the above options, there are several other types of sub.
For example, there is the “Princess” sub who wants to be adored and doted upon. This type of sub is most common among sissies and women, but men and other genders can also be a Princess. A subset of this type is the pillow Princess, who wants to have different things done unto them, like spanking, nipple play, and genital torment.
Another type of sub is referred to as the “rope bunny.” This is a person who’s very much into bondage and rigging, who likes to be tied up or tied down during play.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. There are many, many categories and different ways to be submissive! What a great post!! I love what you say at the beginning, that there are likely as many types of subs as there are subs. It implies that every sub is unique in their own way (true), but yet there are certainly general categories that certain subs lean towards. I personally don’t like putting myself in a box (well, a metaphorical box anyway), but I have to say I’m more like a service sub than anything else. But you know I am also a pain sub and a slave (to as much extent as I can be via distance). But mostly, I simply LOVE to make you happy and to please you, whatever that may “look” like at the time. In essence, I really like to be a reflection of your desires at that moment. Hey, maybe I’m a morph sub? I change into what you envision at the moment. Like Odo, the changeling in Star Trek Hahahha! OMG. The inner nerd came through there.
Anyway. I love this post because it gets me thinking about my submission more deeply, even if I don’t fit entirely into any single category. And for those who are unsure, just be who you are and over time you will be able to start seeing where you lean more towards. Self awareness as a sub is indeed very important. Without a doubt Ms Olivia, service submissive is the category I would identify with. Numerous times over the years I would be the sissy maid for Mistresses in real time sessions. Whether it be vacuuming, doing dishes or scrubbing the tub, I readily accepted my role while being closely supervised. Real life circumstances now see me doing the majority of the domestic chores, but alas, without the pleasure of my maids uniform. Swapping frills for flannel it seems! (Pssst…except when scrubbing the tub. I only wear my cage doing that chore!🤭🤣)
