BDsm and porn
Listen to me read you this Experienced Mistress blog post.
I didn’t think I would like the kink world. Before getting involved in the real BDsm and fetish scene, my only impression of kink was from pop culture. I didn’t think it was for me — it didn’t feel like intimacy. You might not know if you are kinky, submissive or sexually adventurous. Don’t worry — it’s best to go into all this is an open … ahem … mind.
My personal BDsm origins
If you’re curious about how (and why) I’m interested in kink, take a look at this blog post: The making of the Experienced Mistress. LDW Group also has lots of information like this essay on the difference between Lifestyle and fantasy Domination and submission.
Problem with porn and power exchange
When you watch Femdom porn you can see all the fetish outfits and the activities like spanking, CBT, feminization, etc. What you can’t see is power exchange. In the words of one kink friend.
“While porn stereotypes can be fine for some it’s just that… fine, at best a pleasant sort of mediocre.
To truly experience Domination and submission you have to experience power exchange.
The problem is that you can not explain power exchange. Those who have done it already know, and those who haven’t lack the frame of experience.”
This is one of those things where the experience is the only way to explain it — and once you do experience it — mmmmmmm, you’ll see.
Are you ready to experience this?

Ms. Olivia

This blog post is right on point Ms. Olivia especially with the 50 shades phenomenon. People who never indulge personally in BDSM don’t really know the nuances of power exchange. The handing over of power can be subtle or obvious. I think that is important for those new to the game to know.
OMG don’t get me started on the 50 shades phenomenon Ms Lena! ~laughs~ I bought the book to see what all the fuss was about. Gaaaaaaaaa. Really bad writing and totally inaccurate portrayal of BDsm — that guy wasn’t a Dominant — he was just an asshole. ~rolls eyes~ Maybe it got better at some point, I didn’t even last the first chapter!
I believe this pop culture view of BDSM is what keeps many people from trying anything in the world of BDSM. It seems intimidating and cold. For me, right from the start, it felt like the deepest intimate connection I had ever experienced. It is spiritual. I know I am in the minority in feeling that way, but there you go.
You’re so right Ms Violet — I remember going to a new play party and everyone was so GREAT — all the Dominant were busy talking and showing one another toys. I really wish people could see the reality of this culture. You are so RIGHT about the spiritual intimacy … the feeling is indescribable and intense. The kink friends (like you) that I really connect with outside of just the fetish scene are people who have experienced the spiritual aspect of this wonderful intimacy.
